The Jharkhand government is gearing up for an extensive recruitment campaign to hire 60,000 teachers throughout the state. School Education and Literacy Minister Ramdas Soren revealed that the recruitment process will kick off soon, sharing the news during the Foundation Day celebration of Utkal Samaj in Golmuri.

The recruitment will take place in multiple phases:

  • 26,000 teachers will be selected through the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JTET).
  • 10,000 teachers will be hired specifically for regional languages.
  • The remaining 25,000 to 26,000 teachers will be appointed in the following phase.

Minister Soren also instructed officials to promptly address any pending issues related to teacher appointments to avoid delays.

Prioritizing Regional and Tribal Language Education

The Jharkhand government is dedicated to enhancing the teaching of tribal and regional languages in schools. Chief Minister Hemant Soren has underscored the importance of weaving these languages into the curriculum, starting from the upcoming academic year. To ensure effective implementation, a team of educational experts has already visited West Bengal to examine their language education models and is ready to look into practices in Odisha, if needed.

To enhance the teacher-student ratio, the current rule of one teacher for every 30-50 students is being revised. According to the new guidelines:

  • One teacher will be assigned for every 10-30 students.
  • If the class size exceeds 30 students, two teachers will be appointed.

The Education Minister noted that these adjustments will help streamline the recruitment process, particularly for teachers of regional and tribal languages.

Supreme Court Ruling on Assistant Teacher Recruitment

This announcement follows a significant Supreme Court ruling that affects the Jharkhand Assistant Teacher Recruitment 2025. The court has decided that only JTET-qualified candidates will be eligible for selection, overturning a previous Jharkhand High Court order that allowed CTET and other state TET candidates to apply for the 26,001 assistant teacher vacancies.
