Amravati: 22,000 Beloved Sisters in the District Declared Ineligible in Verification!

Amravati: A shocking revelation has emerged from the verification process of Maharashtra’s much-discussed “Mukhyamantri Mazi Ladki Bahin” scheme. As many as 22,000 women in the district have been declared ineligible for the scheme. Before the elections, the scheme was heavily promoted as a major benefit for women, attracting many applicants. However, after a stringent verification process, numerous women have been disqualified, leading to widespread disappointment and discontent in both rural and urban areas.

What is the Scheme, and What Has Changed?

The “Mukhyamantri Mazi Ladki Bahin” scheme was announced by the Mahayuti government just before the state assembly elections. Under this scheme, eligible women were promised financial assistance of ₹1,500 per month, which was later proposed to be increased to ₹2,100 per month. The scheme received an overwhelming response during the elections, with lakhs of women applying. However, once the elections concluded, the government tightened the eligibility criteria and initiated a thorough re-evaluation. As a result, 22,067 applications from the district have been rejected due to various reasons.

Reasons for Disqualification

During the verification process, multiple discrepancies were found in the applications. Some applicants provided incorrect information, while others had incomplete documentation. Additionally, some women voluntarily withdrew their applications, fearing legal action if they were found ineligible. Notably, many applications were rejected due to income limits, Aadhaar card linking issues, and other technical shortcomings.

Public Outrage and Government’s Stance

This decision has led to widespread dissatisfaction among affected families. Many women expressed their frustration, stating, “We were given hope, only to be declared ineligible later – this is unfair.” In response, the administration clarified, “The scheme’s benefits are meant strictly for eligible women, which is why a rigorous verification process was necessary. Those found ineligible can reapply with the correct documents.” However, many women are disheartened, as this process has resulted in wasted time and effort.

What Lies Ahead?

This controversy has raised questions about the credibility of the government. While grand promises were made during the elections, the post-election implementation has left many disillusioned. Some social activists have even labeled the scheme a “political gimmick.” It remains to be seen what corrective measures the government and administration will take in response to this backlash.
